Tab 8 minutes ago, Kaare Baekgaard said: The menu item is greyed out Because you have a new file that is not contaminated with objects assigned to legacy Screen Plane or old school Unified View Settings, like UV off. If the file/template would already contain such things, 2D legacy mode would be activated automatically. 10 minutes ago, Kaare Baekgaard said: when it is absolutely essential? It depends, some found already one of the new VW 2022 Workflow Features that also do what they need or general other Workflows that were even more comfortable. But if you need to show DLs at different scales and/or even to print from DLs or such things, you may need to activate 2D legacy mode. 1 Quote Link to comment
0 Kaare Baekgaard
Thanks for the answers, Zoomer. Sorry for the rant, there are two preferences menu item, and I was looking in the wrong one. Quote Link to comment
0 zoomer
That was no rant. Not from me either. (I just wanted to pack in that I was never a friend of Unified View off (lots of confusion for new users) or Screen Plane) As I am so happy that (theoretically) VW 2022 will work without. And happy that there is still the option for those who want to keep it. Quote Link to comment
0 cberg
Just curious... Without disabling unified view, where do you do draw 2D details in the 3D workspace, especially if they are at different scales? We make layers just for 2d Details, various scales. This enables things to more easily move from file to file... One option is to make everything a symbol. But making everything symbols is a little confusing for the average user. Vectorworks will only display visible layers that are the same scale as the Active Layer. Quote Link to comment
0 cberg
That makes sense. But not seeing them at a glance, makes them harder to find.... Any downsides to turning Unified View off from a performance perspective? Quote Link to comment
0 zoomer
I am not experienced with detailing. But isn't there any way to create these from a Source VP on SLs and draw the Detail over in Annotation Layer ? I know, for Sections, people put generated Sections VP on a Design Layer, Annotate on DL, but finally create an overall SLVP for plan creation and printing. OK, Sections may have the same scale as Plans. Details may differ. But does not the Zoom Level of the DL will show the correct Text/Dimension/... Sizes ? Quote Link to comment
