OS 10.15.x is the minimum for VW 2022. I am using a MacMini (late 2012) and it runs well, even with the "under powered" onboard graphics chips (also, I don't do rendering). One caveat - OS 10.15.x does not run 32 bit applications any more, so if you have old software you need to use, consider that before upgrading your OS.

For what it's worth: I run OS 10.14.6 Mojave which also doesn't appear on the list of required OS's for VW22... and it nonetheless runs fine... for now!

That's interesting. I've been asked to upgrade my VW to 2022 from 2021, but worried that I will also need to upgrade from Mojave - either to Catalina or Big Sur. If I do need to change OS, which is the better to switch to? Don't want to screw everything up - my MacBook Pro is my livelihood.

AFAIK,

with Catalina, all older 32 bit Apps did no more work.

(You can check by sorting in Activity Monitor for 32 vs 64 bit Apps

and you can google for an App that list all your installed Apps for

being 64 bit ready or not.)

But with Big Sur you will also lose any Software using kernel extensions

(KEXT) for security reasons. These are mostly Drivers for older input devices,

printers and scanners.

This made much more older Software incompatible for me than just the

32 bit Apps.

If you go for Big Sur you can also go for coming Monterey, as this will not

deprecate any more old APIs than Big Sur.
