Popular Post Kevin K
I was just playing around with this new $6.00 Photoshop 'actions' add-on that does a decent job of converting an existing Photo Realistic Rendering to something a bit 'looser' and painterly. Lots of adjusting is possible, but without ever messing with the optional tweaks, here is what it will produce in seconds, in the default mode. This may be of interest to some of you. Here is the original rendering..... ...and here is the result, created in seconds, with the 'archisketch' photoshop filter applied to the image. 5 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Hey markdd Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool 🙂 Here is a link to the product: https://graphicriver.net/item/archi-sketch-photoshop-action/16211716 Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
I've had mostly negative experiences with downloadable "sketchy" actions in the past but this one looks more promising, especially if you were able to achieve those results on the pool rendering. I might give it a try. Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Andy Yeah, I have had the same 'less than acceptable' results, as well. But this one I was pretty happy with. Without getting too granular, there are quite a few tweaking options available within the Photoshop 'actions' relating to this. I had a lot of fun tweaking the various settings. The guy who created the product has a pretty good tutorial available, which is more than helpful. Check it out if you wish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N1kzWSHTy0 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post BartHays
Here is a similar effect. I use two outputs from VW, The first a Hidden line view with tweaked "careful" sketch effect. The second, a rendering or OpenGL view. In Photoshop I stack the HL view over the rendering with a "Multiply" bend mode. In between the two I create a 3rd layer, filled white and with a "Screen" blend mode. When I "Paint" black on the middle layer ( using very low opacity and a textured brush) it reveals the color underneath. I created a PS Action to automate the process. Popular Post DanJansenson
On the Mac, two interesting apps are Waterlogue and Photosketcher, both of them very inexpensive. They can produce quite nice handmade-appearance images from RW images, and especially when output from each is stacked back in Vectorworks to produce a combined image (and in the example at the bottom, combined with a VW Hidden Line render). Not to everyone's taste, but still has potential, I think. Edited October 1, 2021 by DanJansenson 10 Quote Link to comment
Mitchell (the other one)
That third image pretty much nails what I like to take to client meetings. Thank you, I will explore those. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted October 4, 2021 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 4, 2021 A couple workflow ideas are that if you import an image as a referenced image, you can then modify it outside Vectorworks and then refresh the reference to bring in the modified image. You could start out with the unstylized image and stylize it with an app and then update the reference as needed. Another thought is that the newest version of Vectorworks Nomad integrates with the iOS Files app. This lets any other mobile app get access to your Vectorworks Cloud Services files. So you could stylize an image using mobile app and bring it back to desktop more easily. The Files app integration is intended to help workflows like with Morpholio specifically, to sketch on a starting image that comes from Vectorworks and get it back to Vectorworks. So you could stylize an image using mobile app and bring it back to desktop more easily. I'd like to provide a few clarification points here. The mobile app used for the image editing needs to have the capability to communicate (import/export files) with the iOS Files App. Some apps can only access files from the iOS Photos app, so this workflow wouldn't work with them. If the app can access the Files app, then the workflow requirements are as follows: - Store the referenced image file into the Vectorworks Cloud Services folder. - Run the Vectorworks Cloud Services app, so that the file is synced to the Cloud - Install the latest iOS Nomad app and sign in - Open the iOS Files all and enable Vectorworks Nomad as a "Location". From now on, any file stored in Nomad that is modified by any app on the mobile device will sync back to your Vectorworks Cloud Services folder. So, to get the updated file into Vectorworks only requires an update of the reference. Also, I wanted to remind you that the Cloud Services web portal has al Machine Learning-based job called "Stylize image" (available to Service Select members only). Give that a try and let me know your thoughts. Here is a screenshots on how to find it. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Peter Neufeld. Posted October 21, 2021 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 21, 2021 Hello, Here are some renders done using the Vectorworks Cloud Services machine learning stylized rendering as Iskra mentions. The original is first and others follow. @inikolova will more styles be added in the future? Cheers, Peter 1 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee inikolova Posted October 22, 2021 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 22, 2021 Hi Peter, Thanks for sharing your results! Yes, it is possible to add more styles and we are planning to do that, but I don't have an exact date right now. Best regards, Iskra 1 Quote Link to comment
