Sadly, any file pre 2020 that I try to open gives instacrash.  See y'all in a few service packs.

EDIT: even weirder - I open a file in 2020.  I copy all the Geo to the clipboard - move over to 2022 and paste.....I get a 2d line representation of my model (like I ran convert copy to lines and no 3d.  ☠️

There was a recent crash bug that might be related to this.  In https://jira.vectorworks.net/browse/VB-182592 the fix discovered was to uninstall Dell Command Center and Dell Support Assist.  I wonder if there is software running on your PC that, like those 2 Dell applications, somehow causes Vectorworks to crash.

@HuguesThanks - here you go - attached.  This is just solid modeling - no PIOs or anything but extruded geometry.

Crashes 2022 before I even get it fully opened.  Can't copy and paste it from 2020 to 2022 as 3d.

EDIT: just noticed the file name has CORONA in it - this is referencing the render engine in Cinema 4d, not the virus 🙂

@EAlexander hi there; I tried to open your dwg, 2022 on a 2019 MBP. Opened successfully & seems manipulable.

No, I'm on a custom built machine. I just updated to 21H1 and updated my gpus drivers, but haven't had a chance today to try the file again. Good to know it's something specific to my setup and not just the software. I'll report back.

What have you that I don't have 🙂

Why doesn't Windows offer 21H2 to me.

I have lastest BIOS (Win11 optimized), AMD Drivers, ....

Maybe they found out that there are 3 Linux installations beside Windows ...

I have to dig deeper, but at first glance - SHADED (formerly OpenGL) gives me a lot of lines and hatch artifacts (there is NOT overlapping geo), but as I zoom in more, it clears up.  Haven't tried this yet in a Viewport, but I hope I can sort this as screen grabs of wide views to send to my designers is my all day every day 🙂

I see big problems with this in VW2022 too. It might be helpful if you could report this on this thread to increase the chance of something being done about it:

Changing the "crease angle" improves things a bit but it doesn't make the problem go away. It seems to be worse in more complex models. And is present in perspective but not orthogonal views.

You just reminded me of something. I have this issue with the LED video screen object in both v2021 and v2022. When I'm zoomed in, it looks great. But when I zoom out, it looks like your example above. That to me sounds like a VGM LOD issue (lower res for objects further away). @Josh Loy what do you think?

Yes I think it is. I already saw it in 2021 but only when using "narrow perspective" for a kind of telephoto view of something. In 2022 something has changed and it is happening in "normal perspective" views.

That checks out on my end because I see it happening in Narrow Perspective. I'll file a bug report for this.

I dunno?  I just looked inn Windows updates from the start menu and it asked if I wanted to install 🙂

Maybe they blocked it for me for my negative comments about Windows 😉

I think I do not want to upgrade to Windows 11, although it looks better,

or better more often, by a few less of Win3.11 legacy dialogs,

but I'm fine with "sharp" panel edges.

But I want 21H2 ...

just for correctness.

Ahm, yes, it is only 21H1, not H2

As no Admin Account I had to download a Windows Update Tool.

But no, Admin Password is not enough to work. It will only work

from within an Admin Account.

(who invented this ?)

I was a bit frightened when it asked if it should "install" (!) Windows 10 now.

But after several Restarts (For every User Account again !?) Windows is

still alive and updated.
