Converting symbol to a Lighting instrument

working on a plugin that will inset some symbols that have i have previous made into lighting devices. when i use vs.symbol() to add them to my drawing it adds them as just symbols instead of lighting devices. any way to add a "lighting device" to a drawing or to convert a symbol to a lighting device?

The lighting device is a plug-in object, so you need to use CreateCustomObject(). There's not really a way to convert the symbol — conversion is basically deleting the symbol, inserting the PIO in its place, and setting the appropriate data fields to use the symbol name. Note that position detection won't be automatic, and you'll need to run ApplyLightInfoRecord().
