IFC Colour - Trees

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am just wondering if someone has figured out how to export trees with separate colours for the trunk/foliage. I am able to give the different components of the 3d symbol colours by class settings, but these don't seem to carry through to the IFC.  If I have the trees on 'none' class, then they are grey, and if I place them on a class, the settings inside the 3d symbol dont seem to export.

It seems like this is possible since the landscape areas export with several colours, but maybe I am missing something here?

Thanks in advance.

The whole Symbol has the IFC Tree Tag, right ?

I think, for Groups/Symbols, it may needed to give no parent Tag,

then you should be able to separately tag the Group's Content.

Maybe that is mandatory to get separate materials at all.

I am not sure about how to assign Materials the right way for IFC

exports though.

When importing IFC into Bricscad or VW, I sometimes get the

Materials in, but hardly the material assignments.

Like Object Materials assigned by Class, but Classes miss

Material Settings and so on.

Yes, I have seperately tagged the content of the group to two specific classes, and tried having the object itself on the 'none' class, but then the entire object is just grey.  Seeing as the landscape areas export several colours, it should be possible.

The Data tab in the OIP along with the data manager and object settings allow quite a lot of info to come through the IFC export. In Norway they also have a layer-naming standard so that the classes themselves give a basic ID for the components info/type.
