Lock Classes / Layers

trashcan

Question

It's great that you can click an object and lock it.

But! Hear me out!

Wouldn't it be great if there was the ability to lock classes and layers?

Adding a lock function in the Navigation palette as an additional column.

I know that you can sort of achieve this by doing "Show Others" instead of Show/Snap/Modify, but that's effectively like Soloing while being able to see other layers. I want to lock specific classes but leave other classes unlocked. Manually locking and unlocking objects when they all belong to the same class is such a pain!

Great work around is using the select similar tool. This works on locked objects. Good pro tip.

Hmmmh,

I understand it like that is what the "Gray" Mode is for.

This will "lock" anything on that Class or Layer.

Beside it will always also "gray" the appearance and add

transparency to the geometry - which I think makes sense.

(AFAIK you can reduce transparency of "gray" objects in

VW Settings if needed)

Together with the global Class/Layer Dropdown you can also

decide if "grayed" are shown or snapped.

OK, that control is a bit simplified and pre-set by VW.

But I really like it that way very much and much better than

Autocad, where you can Select Objects of Locked Layers !?!?!

have no global switches for all Layers, ....
