Joel Rosa
Hi wise minds! Finally - after months revolving on the best (for me) software to evolve from Autocad - I'm going to start now learning VW. I have the perfect project to start with, so I can stick with it from schematic till details... I hope I can count with you to make this learning curve easier, as soon as I face a major challenge. For now, I would love to have your opinion on the best place to learn the basics. VW youtube channel? any other learning platform or YT channel? Basically... as easy and fun as possible for now, so I can stick with this on the long run! Thank you in advance!! Take care. Joel Rosa from sunny Lisbon, Portugal B) 1 Quote Link to comment

This is a great starting point for a beginner and deep dives into really advanced workflows. https://learn.archoncad.com is also well worth the money once you work your way through the university offerings to get up to speed on the basics. I migrated from AutoCAD after20 years of use. The programs are very different in interface and input sometimes. If you stick with it beyond the initial learning curve and inherent frustrations with change, you’ll wonder why you suffered AutoCAD for so long 🙂 6 Quote Link to comment
michaelk
And the quicker you can stop yourself from trying to do something the AutoCad way, the quicker you'll be successful. I'm sure VW users going from VW to AutoCad have a similar experience. 🙂 Two different animals. Post back when you have questions. 1 Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks object have fill attribute there is never a need to have a line object and a copy of it to fill. Sorry pet hate that seems to crop up with all exAutocad users we've retrained. 1 Quote Link to comment
Tombezlar
Here some links that can be helpfull for you in your first steps of learning: https://www.udemy.com/course/vectorworks-2020-professional-course/ https://www.scan2cad.com/cad/vectorworks-basics/ https://store.archoncad.com/ Alas, I have never found a sufficiently high quality and well-designed course, such as the one for Java. But if you'll be active on the forum and watch YouTube, you'll be fine. Good luck in your studies! Quote Link to comment

While the vectorworks fill attribute sure is nice, changing the lineweight of complex hatches in Vectorworks compared to AutoCAD is the tradeoff. ...and a time consuming one at that 😞 2 Quote Link to comment
