jdkoja
Hello. I am an Architect and have been using AutoCAD for over 20 years. I have found that it hangs up frequently and is incredibly sluggish. My computer is a custom. Parts have been carefully selected and assembled. It has: Intel i9 Processor 64 GB. High Speed Ram 1 TB SSD (Windows and Drivers) 2 TB SSD (All programs) 2 TB SSD (Media) NVIDIA 2070 Super Graphics Card ASUS Gaming Motherboard Liquid Cooled Windows Pro 64 Bit. I need a AutoCAD alternative that is quick and stable. The endless features are merely a distraction. Most people who use CAD for their careers will realize this. A CAD program that can draw 2D lines, curves.... utilize multiple X-refs and layers; and still run quick and stable. This is what is truly important. Everything else, again; is just a cheap distraction. Does Vectorworks CAD enable the user to draw quick and with stability? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment
bcd
If you are currently working in 2d only then I would say you're going to be more than happy. Why not download an evaluation version and give it a test drive: https://www.vectorworks.net/en-US/www.vectorworks.net/trial Quote Link to comment

With latest years GPU accelerations also in 2D. (I found VW in 3D always fast) But you should manually add ACAD or any 3D/CAD App in Windows Graphics Settings to use the GPU at full performance and not being limited by any energy saving settings or that Windows my use any internal GPU on CPU chip instead to save power. Sometimes it is even useful to do any special settings per App in GPU driver software, like Nvidias driver suite. AFAIK e.g. VW prefers to have V-Sync OFF.
