Palettes not showing

Elle

Question

Having trouble with palettes not showing correctly. Either Object Info or Navigation are showing, but not both at the same time even though both ticked under Window Palettes. Have closed, unticked all and re-ticked but to no avail. Any ideas how to solve this one, please?

There are a few things that could be occurring here. But it is difficult to help without knowing what behaviour you are observing and what version of Vectorworks you are operating. So here are a couple of simple potential situations you can check. The palettes could be directly on top of each other so that only the most recently activated one is rendered to the foreground. The palettes could be locked to one side of the application window and when both are active one is pushed off the edge of the monitor. I've also seen in VW2021 where palette tabs that are not joined to their original host palette reappear almost off the monitor's edge either at the bottom right or the right side. You can try moving the visible one to a new location, closing it, see if the other appears. When the other appears, move it to a different location and try again at getting both to appear.

Sorry I can't be of much more help than that.

Thank you Larry,  am using VW 2021. Have tried all of your recommendations, restarted also etc. all to no avail. Have the feeling the OI and Navigation are stuck on top of each other. Can use each individually fine but not together..

Hi Elle,

Based on this description it sounds like these pallets are docked together as tabs. In the window/palette/area where both the Object Info Palette and the Navigation Palette appear, look along the top edge. Do you see two (or more) small tabs?

As this is particular to your computer - and as issues of this nature are usually due to file corruptions in the Vectorworks User Folder - here's the likely fix:

Reset Vectorworks Preferences - just be sure to abide the linked instructions at the top two 'Back Up your Vectorworks Preferences' before you proceed, just in case you need/want to restore any Favourites or Library files etc.
