Show/snap/grey others

Please assist,

 

when selecting a layer the other do not show in grey mode.

How to i get them to show  in grey while i am working on the selected layer.

Not sure why your screenshot is pointing to Show/Snap/Modify Others.  If you want to gray others, it should be "Gray Others" or Gray/Snap Others".  

 

Do you have the other layers you want to see in grey mode set to visible?  Layers that have visibility turned off, stay off in grey mode. 

 

"Gray Others - Displays the active class/layer normally and all other classes/layers are grayed (except for those set to invisible)" per https://app-help.vectorworks.net/2021/eng/index.htm#t=VW2021_Guide%2FBasic2%2FSetting_global_visibility_with_class_and_design_layer_options.htm

 

BTW, I think (others can correct me) that "Show/Snap/Modify Others" is usually not advisable for Layers, but is frequently used for Classes.

I fairly regularly use Show/Snap/Modify Others with layers, but I usually am working on 2D schematic drawings. If I am working on 3D models I usually use just Show/Snap Others.

 

@Dean Raymann Tell us a little more about what you are trying to do and we might be better able to help.  What do you want Grey and why?
