scaling ID markers

How do you scale the ID markers. I have tried using the "Marker Scale Factor" box in the Object info pallete, but nothing seems to happen. No matter what value I enter into this box my window ID markers stay the same size. Please help.

You scale the ID marker by changing the size of the symbol that creates it. Open the file Plug-ins\Common\Data\ID_Symbols.mcd and change the size of the symbol you want to scale.

so that scale window one gets in object info palette for some plug-ins does nothing? I aaumed that if I was working in say 1/8" and 1/4" I could have the symbol ont 1/8" layer set at 1 and the one on the 1/4" layer set at .5. I have not used this much but I thought this was what it was intended for.

The ID marker has no such scale parameter. For Objects which have such a parameter, the Scale parameter does provide a graphic scale. These are usually notational objects which try to auto-scale to the same page size. You can use the Scale param to adjust their size to your liking.
