i have set my VW so that the default class names are not active. therefore, i can name my own class however, why are the object (e.g. detail bubble, elev marker) still connected to the "none" class? these objects would only be visible if i have both "none" class and their own class on.

Can somebody shed some light on this for me please?

This is the default behavior of VectorWorks, but it can be changed with ResEdit (since you're on the Mac, you lucky person!). With ResEdit, open the resource file named "IP Resources.rsrc" that is in your Plug-ins folder. Open the STR# resource 11002 and change the FALSE to TRUE. Save and close the resource file.

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, that you should save a copy of the original file in a safe place in case something gets corrupted, etc.

Bear in mind that this is useful for editing behavior in the "show active class only" mode but (1) this class option should probably never be set for displaying information in sheets and (2) sheets should also be set to always show the None class. Remember that people to whom you are sending the file may be operating in the default VectorWorks manner.

Hope this is helpful, R.
