Jim Smith
I have been helping a new user get up to speed with ARCHITECT 9.5 and found that the "Join" command (apple-J) seems not to be available. (I did a HELP search-with no luck.) Any hints as to how to connect walls or lines? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
I'm nor sure, but you may want to check your workspace editor. Go in there and add the JOIN command to the appropriate menu. Good Luck! PLC Quote Link to comment
jfmarch
I think its on the "Walls" palette. Quote Link to comment
Guest
The join command is under the Tool Menu. The keyboard shortcut might not be working depending on the workspase you are in. To fix the shortcut, use the workspace editor. Information about this is in Appendix A of the VW User's Guide. Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
In VW 9.5 the join tool has been re-engineered. It is part of the Connect/Combine tool, and it takes getting used to but works great. Instead of selecting two objects and using Ctrl+J, you select the tool and click on two objects. Pre-selecting the objects is not necessary. There are three modes for joining things which combine the old Extend and Join tools, and add other capabilities. I added a keyboard shortcut using the Workspace editor so that the "J" key activates that tool. Quote Link to comment
P Retondo
I stand corrected, Katie is right that the join tool is there. Am I correct in remembering that it was gone for a while (version 9.0?), but was reinstated due to popular demand? The Connect/Combine tool is (in my opinion) the way to go, though. Guest
No, that was the trim tool. It was gone, and came back in 9.5.0. The Join command shortcut wasn't assigned in certain workspaces, so using the shortcut would generate nothing. The join tool could be used by going to the Tool menu, Join and it worked just fine.
