Damon Design
I am trying to draw a dormer window and, (following directions in the manual) the window symbol will not get "sucked" into the roof plane thereby opening the roof elements dialog box. I have never seen this dialog box. Also, where is this skylight symbol and the roof.mcd folder in the resource palette? And why is my program crashing constantly? 9.5.1 architect Mac OSX Quote Link to comment
Robert Anderson
Make sure you are using a symbol. If you are using a window plug-in object, you must first make it a symbol using the Create Symbol.. command. Quote Link to comment
Damon Design
Thanks for replying so quickly-I have created a symbol from the window and still no go. Is there an area on the roof plane that best "sucks up" the symbol?-I am placing it all over the plane. Does the symbol Z have to match the roof plane Z? Quote Link to comment
Robert Anderson
Dormers don't work with roof -planes-, only with complete roofs created with the "Create roof from walls" or "Create Roof from Polys" commands. Quote Link to comment
Damon Design
Got it! Thanks. Quote Link to comment
C. Deel
This is quite a serious pain, as the "create roof from polygon" command makes only the most standard and generic sort of roofs. Most of the roof models I create are too complex to use the "create from polygon" command on them, and this means I can't insert dormers or skylights--frustrating. Quote Link to comment
