Mismatch between hidden line & OpenGL alignment

Anyone notice a mismatch between mapping a surface in OpenGL and hidden line renders?

 

My case: horizontal siding. 

Use vertical offset to line up between floors for a seamless transition in OpenGL and it is in a completely different place when viewed in hidden line mode. And vice versa. 

 

These seems like a bug to me - and a very frustrating one at that. Everything must be realigned for output to building set or back again for client presentations. I have not compared to other renders but am suspicious the problem goes on.
