Worksheets in viewport are not displaying?

Bruce Kieffer

Question

My worksheets that do appear on the design layer do not appear on the viewport. I have checked all layers and classes on in the viewport. Do worksheets normally show in viewports?

I may have solved this. I placed the worksheets on to the sheet layer from the resource manager. Maybe that is how it is supposed to work?

I just tried a simple test. I put a worksheet image on a design layer and then made a viewport. The viewport did display the worksheet image, so worksheets on design layers can display in viewports.

As with everything else, worksheet visibility in viewports depends on class and layer visibility, but it sounds like you have already checked that.

You can certainly put a worksheet image either directly on a sheet layer or in the annotations group of a viewport, but you should be able to put the image on the design layer also.

Yes the worksheet itself is a resource + lives in the resource manager then the report you place on a sheet layer is an object: an 'instance' of that worksheet. So you can place as many of the worksheet objects as you want on as many sheets as you want, whilst the worksheet from which they were each derived remains in the resource manager. They can be duplicated or deleted like any other object.

That's how I understand it anyway.

Double-click on the worksheet in the RM to place it on a sheet, or right-click on it + check 'Worksheet on Drawing', or click + drag it onto the sheet.

I find that the only way they show correctly in the VP is to be in Top/Plan view, otherwise, I am able to get them to show, but they show in layer plane (ISO) even though they are set to screen plane.

I think yours and Tom's suggestion of placing an instance on the sheet layer is the simpler way to go. Thanks.
