Slab drainage - how to change slopes values.

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I have a problem with drainage tool. I wanted to create 4 slopes on my slab that all of them go down toward different edge . I tried to create that by using 4 drains and connecting them. But every time I create this I can not change the slope's value (it's always around 5%).

Is my approach wrong? If so, then how can I make this kind of roof?

My file and picture of what I'm trying to create are attached.

@Tom W. I want to be able to change slope values. In the file I have sent there are 3 stages of my work - 1. Base slab. 2. Slab with drains in the corners. 3. Slab after connecting all drains together.

My problem is that when I am connecting drains together, VW generates 5,2% slopes every time - no matter how slopes were described before connecting drains. I assume that it is somehow connected with saddle settings, but whenever I want to change saddle value Vectorworks crashes.

So I have no idea if I am doing something wrong, or there is another way to create this kind of roof from slab.

Thank you very much for your time :).

Thanks @GRZEGORZ I'm no expert on this but I am interested in seeing what can be done with the tool...

Annoyingly, I'm struggling to generate the hip-configured slab you show in 3. I did create this originally but now when I try VW keeps crashing! So the best I can do is a hip-configuration as shown below:

But here I am setting the slope angle in the 'Slab Drainage Settings' beforehand + the slab is created accordingly. You're saying that no matter what the 'Default Slope' + 'Minimum Slope' settings are your slopes are always 5.2%?

I can't see any way of adjusting my slope values after the fact though.

Matt Panzer is the slab drainage (+ everything else) expert so I'm sure if you could get him on board he'd have some ideas.

In the meantime I created this using 'Add 3D Object to Slab':

so you could perhaps achieve what you want that way instead?

The changes in component quantities when you do this are reflected in worksheet calculations so you don't need to worry about that. But you don't get the slope data/annotations like you do with slab drainage obviously...

I wish I had a solution for you but I do not.  The problem is, when connecting drains, other valleys from the drains are removed.  In this case, all valleys defining the slopes on the slab are removed leaving you will no control over the slope.  I'd like to see a way to set the slope of faces and I know others have wished for this as well.  That would certainly help us in this case.

Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
