rjtiedeman
Now that Apple has moved to a universal format in OS 11 how soon will it be before VW Fundamentals runs on a fully configured 2021 iPad Pro 12.9"? It would be handy to have a way to check site dimensions and interact with clients away from my work station. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
I have no relation with VW other than as a volunteer moderator on the forum, so I in no way speak for VW. I would expect an iPad version around VW 2023 or 2024. Step 1 is to get a version of VW that runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs. Step 2 will depend a lot on Apple. If they choose to make a Mac emulator that will run on an iPad then life is easier for VW. If they don't and they have to rewrite for iPad that is a relatively major undertaking that will take a lot of resources from other projects. I would expect a simplified "viewer/markup" app for iPad rather than a full port, but none of the code is reusable until the base program is Apple Silicon native (or Universal so it still runs on Intel). Just my $0.02 1 Quote Link to comment
Peter Vandewalle
Mac OS an iOS are 2 not the same animal. There’s no comparison. I don’t think plans for Vectorworks running on iOS are existing. if you want to take plans on the road and measure or annotate your designs, consider Nomad. Quote Link to comment

Just my $0.02 Thanks. That makes perfect sense. I think a MacBook Pro 13 makes more sense. 4 years is a long time to wait and being able to use the apple pencil is not that important to drawing in CAD. I tried sidecar and it is OK but would take a lot of retraining. Quote Link to comment
