Victor S
Hi Guys, I was wondering what are you using to create downpipes (3D). I have used different tool, but not really happy with any of them. I found it very disappointing that in VW2020/21 there is still no simple tool to create and connect the rainwater pipes. Any suggestions? Thank you Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
Draw the cross section of your downpipe, draw a 3d polyline for a path, then use Extrude Along a Path to model it. Quote Link to comment
Victor S
Thank you Jeff. I have used that method before but it is very clumsy. Especially when you have pipe runs with falls, bending and connecting to other pipes... Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Taproot
Have you tried this one? https://plugins.andreafacchinello.it/downspouts-free/ https://plugins.andreafacchinello.it/ 7 Quote Link to comment
michaelk
+1 for Andrea's tools. I use the downspout, gutter, and beam tools constantly. 2 Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
@Victor S and you think a Vectorworks downspout tool would be less clumsy 🙂 ? In all seriousness, I have to extrude along a path for many landscape features following terrain or taking on nonrectilinear shapes so it becomes second nature after a while. Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
@Taproot that's pretty slick. Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Tom W.
I use a specific range of rainwater goods a lot so went to trouble of modelling the various elements + saving them as symbols with records attached then I get a take-off of what I need in each case: But this is more for specifying/ordering purposes than modelling something indicative in a drawing 7 Quote Link to comment
Popular Post Taproot
@Tom W. Very Nice components! Looking at your work, I find myself asking once again if VW has a future plan for user supported resource sharing? Imagine having a web-based library (similar to sketchup's 3D warehouse) where we can upload our symbols and resources for community use. The existing resource browser in its current form could easily accommodate this. For my part, I have a lot to contribute ... As I suspect do most of you. In that way, we could build off of one another's effort rather than constantly re-inventing the wheel. 5 Quote Link to comment
