Printer Overload

When I try to print a page from a drawing that has multiple layers or complicated symbols, my printer takes excruciating amounts of time to print. The file sizes are only 4M-8M, but my printer sees them as 72M files. It's a fairly new printer (3 months old), and this only happens in VWorks. Has anyone else run into this?

Do these files have transparent bitmaps in them?

Not always, right now I'm working with a drawing that has 6 layers and it's happening, and last week I worked on a file with bitmap textures, but the drawing was only 1.2M.

Heather, I'd recommend emailing a copy of a particularly bad example to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net along with this description. This will allow us to test the file and see what's happening.

Hi, I use V9 on a Apple G4 with Epson Stylus 1520. It works very well, cept a few times it did 'crash ' and didnt print certain layers. I reinstalled the entire program and all is well since. I do see an ocassional file curruption where the file will not resize in the print set-up. So I make frequent back-ups!

Also, sometimes the program will have a 'text crash' where all text dissapears? a simple relaunch/reboot takes care of that, thank goodness. Peace

I thought the problem had magically disappeared, but no, it still vexes me. I'm using a Canon S600, and the file I'm currently working on is about 9.5M. I will try to email a copy to TS.

You will encounter large print files if you are:working on Windows and printing to a non-PostScript printer and using pattern fills. Windows (98/ME in particular) does not support pattern fills very well.

In VW9 on Windows there is an option in the print dialog to print patterns at onscreen resolution. Make sure this is not checked. If you are using 8.5 I would recommend that you only use patterns where you need them.
