socket tool distance in horizontal line

Hello,

where can I adjust to distance between the sockets when I create them. When I use the socket tool "along line" I get in the vertical direction every step a new socket. In the horizontal direction I only get a socket evry second step but also want to have it for every step.

Hi,

 

Sockets are spaced on multiples of the snap grid setting. The horizontal spacing is greater because you mostly need room for the socket name to be displayed. This is an exercise is pleasing most of the people most of the time.

Ok. I understand but I roatated the text blocks so it is like the horizontal symbols and now It would be great to change the spacing otherwise I cannot use the along line tool and use the move and copy. after it I can use the spotlight numbering or the connectCAD socket numbering.

I hoped I could change someweher the space and simple have not found it. But do not worry I have a work-around.

Ah now I get it. I'll add this point to my notes. Good that you have a workaround though because I think we have more than enough already in terms of new stuff  to test.

Yes, the only problem is that a part of the text or the whole text disapear. But when you are zooming you can see the information. I even tried with fill the textblock, this works for one information but not fpr the second text block.

 

When you are using it not rotated it is no problem.

When you are opening the device everything is fine.

Same here. When I zoom in an d out the text shows up. When i don't zoom you can only see the first letter.

Opening the device doesn't make a different.

Testet with clean osx and clean vwx installation. newest service pack etc.

Ok, these are things for us to think about...

 

But just to manage expectations a bit - there is always a risk of unexpected results when you start using things in ways they weren't designed for. If it works that's great but if it doesn't then that's not necessarily wrong either.

 

The bottom line here is that you want the option for text to run vertically in these cases so as to achieve a closer socket spacing. That's what I take away from this discussion as an improvement to be considered.

One more thing to point at: when i change the angle of the external to 90 degrees, the text nearly disapears.

Hello guys,

 

The disappearing text is more like rendering issue, since the text is visible when zooming in/out. What is more, turning unified view on fixes this.

But rotating sockets still isn't "as-designed", otherwise we could do away with orientation altogether. Hmmm! Could be an idea? 😄
