Existing Tree Tool - 3D Properties

It there a way to change the color / opacity of the 3D canopy?

 

I can change the 3D trunk color by class style, but not the 3D canopy color.

Can I edit the default gradient maybe?

 

Class opacity doesn't seem to effect either.

 

I have not yet clicked the ominous "apply texture to classes" box...

 

EDIT:

I created a black doc and put one existing tree in it.

Class color affects the canopy and the truck - but it still doesn't in my working doc.

Thoughts?

Still can't control the opacity by class.
