Scale bar problem

Question

Hi guys,

I just noted this problem with scale bar, where the unit mark overlaps with the figures. I can't find anything that controls that behaviour. The scale bar itself doesn't seem editable either. I didn't have that problem before. For now, I managed to group the bar and then edit it, but this means losing its dynamic behaviour and not a good workflow. Another surprise in v2021 or I am missing something really obvious?

It *might* be the font. You can check by selecting the Scale Bar and then changing font (and/or size) in the Font menu.

Yes they are editable, select it and look in the OIP where you find a variety of user input fields. See attached...

@CipesDesign, I had more elaborate editing in mind 😉 - such that would actually allow to modify the text for example. I tried with different sizes, and it seems that the unit text box is just aligned in such an awful way. As I said - I had not had this issue before, so not sure what has changed.

I am not seeing this in VW2021SP2.

Try creating a new blank file (not from a template) and placing a scale object there using a super standard font like Arial. Does it still have the spacing problem?

As a last resort, you could ungroup the scale bar. It will lose it parametric abilities but then you can add or modify your own text. And then regroup for management.

@Pat Stanford thanks for suggestion. It worked in a blank file (non-template). Then I tried again in our company template - worked again. So I tried again in the file in which it wasn't working yesterday - and it works now. I don't know why - I haven't even closed the file since yesterday. Mysterious.

Anyway, it works which is the most important. I would just like to know how to rectify such things when they happen.

Thank you guys for your thoughts.

I also seem to have a magnetic personality - whenever I turned up at my mentor's lab at the uni, everyone's computers started to freeze or otherwise malfunction.

I prefer your end of the spectrum though.

What was that Bruce Willis movie? Unbreakable? He could not be hurt and Mr. Glass would break ribs by sneezing? Yin and Yang. I will try to send you good thoughts.
