Drawing a building

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am trying to draw my house walls on Vectorworks. When I look at my drawing on a 3D perspective, it does not show the full height of my walls but only what seems to be one floor and there is a red infill to the top of the walls. Why is that and how can I see the full height of my building?

Also when I try to select everyone of my walls I can only select one...

Any help welcome thank you

Clip Cube is turned on.

This is a very useful feature that allows you see selective volumes of a model - notice the faint grey bounding box enclosing your model.

You can hover over one of the faces of this until it turns red then click and drag in/out to resize the box.

You can also turn it off completely to reveal the full model either by clicking the Clip Cube icon in the Quick Preferences bar or the Menu item View>Clip Cube

Thank you very much!

I still can't select all my walls at once. When I hover over the house walls it only ever select just one wall. So for instance if I want to make my house a little taller I have to hold the shift key and select them all. Seems a lot of actions. How can I get this done with one single action please?

There is the Magic Wand Tool with different options,

to select similar Elements,

e.g. "by Object" criteria you can click one Wall to select

a Walls at a time.

If you select Objects manually,

hold SHIFT to add Objects to Selection.

Click in blank space to abort any Selection.

Drag a Marquee from blank Space to select all Objects that are

fully surrounded by the Marquee when you release.

Hold ALT when dragging a Marquee to select all objects that

get just touched by the Marquee.

If that does not work for you than it has either to do with Classes

or Layer edibility Settings or a VW hick up and I would restart VW

or even the whole computer.

Lots of different ways:

Take a look at the Help menu for:

Select Similar

Wall Styles

Storeys

Note - you can/should control objects in the Object Info Palette as well as using the cursor to select them.

Shift Click is one way to manually select multiple objects, another is alt click-drag
