Mark Aceto
I missed the WinDoor install before they deciding to stop selling it for some reason, so I'm in search of a rollup door symbol that I can insert in a wall... Quote Link to comment
Jeff Prince
@Mark Aceto If you can't find one that suits your purpose, you can always drawn and/or model one and use the created symbol in the door tool. Works great. I was just discussing this the other day... Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
@Mark Aceto, Vectorworks does have an "Overhead" door that simulates a segmented or solid garage-style door (it draws the dashed "overhead" lines for you)...no coiling door however... Wes Quote Link to comment
cberg
Why isn't there a coiling door? This is a super common door type. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mark Aceto
@jeff prince thanks. Love Andy's tutorials 🙂 @Wes Gardner thanks. Looks like I'll have to roll my own rollup door (for now) 😉 Quote Link to comment
Mark Aceto
@Wes Gardner it seems like the Dutch version has this? Am I missing something in the US version? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
@Mark Aceto you are only missing two things. The ability to speak Dutch, and living in the Netherlands. ;-) Localized versions of VW often have tools added to meet local requirements. Many of these tools would be nice to bring back to the US version. But often, like with the Stair tool, while they work extremely well in a highly structured environment, but they cause massive frustration for users who just want to get things done and don't care to learn all of the details of a very complex tool. zoomer
However, feature wise, most localized PIOs are at a whole other level vs the international VW Version.. On the other side, common Stair Tool works OK in the localization where it is coming from. But its crippled geometry won't help there either, also there are too lots of feature wishes, where the Stair Tool runs into its limits. Same for Curtin Wall and Railing PIO. Lots of german users mention and wish for the Benelux Windows. And VW is called international or english version, but I always call it VW US. As it is so US standard flavored in any way. Units, standards, naming, Tools, ... Although more international versions are sold in the world outside of the US. Even the UK don't feel very at home, although the same(?) language. But what does someone in Vietnam, Sibiria, Chile or Jemen feels when looking at and playing with VW. I think VW english international should be more international, starting simple from the least common denominator but offering additional flexible Tools which all can profit from. 1 Quote Link to comment
OnlySlightlyBent
Replying to revive this question: does anyone have a rollup style overhead door that works with VW 2024 (US version)? Quote Link to comment

You can do roller shutters with WinDoor. Help > Install Partner Products... if you don't already have it loaded. You can't do it with the VW Door tool. Unless you create your own custom symbol as mentioned above. 1 Quote Link to comment
