Administrator Popular Post JuanP Posted November 11, 2020 Administrator Popular Post Share Posted November 11, 2020 06/29/2020: we received the first Developer Testing Kit (DTK) with Apple's A12Z Bionic System on a Chip - Vectorworks 2020 SP5 and Vectorworks 2021 SP1 run without any issues to report. Vision 2020 and 2021 versions were tested and would not run in Rosetta 2 emulation. Vision requires a substantial GPU to perform correctly, which was not part of the A12Z chip. 11/10/2020: Currently, we are expecting a new Mac Book Air and MacBook Pro 13" - to start testing immediately. We are confident that Vectorworks 2020 and 2021 will run on these new M1 chips with the latest service packs installed. However, we are waiting for production hardware using the M1 chips to gauge their real-world performance using Vectorworks in Rosetta 2 emulation.. Nevertheless, we are very excited about what the new M1 will do! Vision 2020 and 2021, we are waiting for production hardware using the M1 chip to determine if Vision will run in Rosetta 2 emulation with the integrated graphics on the M1 chip. 11/11/2020: As many of you know, yesterday Apple announced the first chip designed specifically for the Mac - ARM-M1. And we are pretty sure all our Mac users, of course, have many questions. The following article has been created to keep you up to date with the latest news and facts about how Vectorworks performs with the Macs that use these new M1 processors. Note: Please be advised, that if you plan to use any of the new Macs, we as of this date do not have official testing results to share with you. We recommend you follow this thread and check back for our official updates on testing results. 11/30/2020: Reported issues after initial tests with Mac Book Air and MacBook Pro: 1) The Finder Icon View of a Vectorworks file does not show a preview 2) Updating a sheet Layer Viewport with OpenGL and Ambient Occlusion will crash 12/8/2020 : Our QA team has completed the acceptance test for Vectorworks 2020 SP5 and 2021 SP2, and these are the reported issues: 1) The Finder Icon View of a Vectorworks file does not show a preview - We are working closely with Apple to get this issue resolved as soon as possible. FIXED with the latest macOS Big Sur update. 2) Updating a sheet Layer Viewport with OpenGL and Ambient Occlusion will crash - Our R&D team is debugging the issue with Apple, and we hope to get a fix from Apple soon. FIXED with the latest macOS Big Sur update. Our QA team is continuing to test Vectorworks and Vision, and we will keep updating this information on a regular basis. We are currently supporting the M1's with Vectorworks under Rosetta 2 emulation for Entry level profiles based on our system requirements. 22 Link to comment
