Exported IGES files can not be read by anyone.

I made some simple 3-D files and sent to them to a customer in IGES file format. Yet they could not read it Solidworks. I found out that I could not read it in AutoCAD or SmartCAM. Every time I get the following error:

"unable to read file. Launched with truncated data"

But I can read it back in into Vectorworks 10.5. Any suggestions?

Was this file exported from VectorWorks 10.5? What platform are you using? At one time files exported as IGES on the Mac could not be read on Windows apps such as SolidWorks. You needed to open the file in BBEdit, change the line feed/carriage return from Mac to PC type and save the file ? in order to open on Windows. However, this was fixed for VectorWorks 10.5, and files exported as IGES on the Mac can be opened on Windows with no problem.

Yes, it was made in VW 10.5.1 on a mac (10.3.3). I will try the BBEdit and see if that works.

No luck, I downloaded a copy of bbedit and followed your instructions and I still can't read any type of IGES that I export, into any windows based app.

But if I export autocad that is read in ok.

Any ideas?
