Problems importing DWG files

I'm having problems importing DWG files.  The line weights and styles come in with the wrong line weights and the styles come in as all solid lines.  Plus VectorWorks sets all of the fill in the classes to solid.  these issues create a lot of work as I has to open each class and make the corrections.  Can anyone tell me of a better way to import DWG files?
