Angel
Hi all, Is there any command or plug in that would draw all windows and doors in front view in a separate layer, and could be automatically updated? Thanks in advance, Angel Quote Link to comment
michaelk
There's no way to automatically draw all the doors and windows on a separate layer. …but that's not a bad idea. If you use door and window styles then you can insert one of every style into a separate layer. Then changing the style will update everywhere. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Or you could put the images of the doors into a worksheet that could be on a different layer. What do you want to do with the door once you get it on the other layer? Quote Link to comment

I need a drawing to send to the carpenters, to have them made. They would need a separate and specific drawing with all details and specifications. Perhaps this is not an usual practice in USA or Europe and that's why there is no command to do this, what I find strange, since all info is present in the file and I guess it wouldn't be so difficult. Angel
I'm attaching a file for you to see what I mean GLZ ABERTURAS.pdf Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Since you want to dimension each door, the worksheet option will not work well for your purposes. There is no automatic way to do this in Vectorworks. You could probably develop a Marionette or a Script that would do it. But you would probably need to think very carefully about how you are going to draw so that the automation works reliably. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
I think you could come pretty close with data tags for the information under the windows and doors. But I don't think you can automate the dimension objects. Easily. Quote Link to comment
Hans-Olav
Hi @Angel I could not find it but I remember @Andy Broomell made a Marionette that does what you are asking for Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
Wasn't me 😁 (I barely understand Marionette) Quote Link to comment
Angel
Thanks to all who replied! At least I'll stop searching inside VW. I wonder how you all do with doors and windows. Do you order them by catalogs? Quote Link to comment
Hans-Olav
It was @AlanW not Andy (-: Quote Link to comment

Angel
Alan, this is just what I was looking for. And for me it's also a good introduction to Marionette. Thanks a lot! 1 Quote Link to comment
