pdoran
I am trying to create a photo realistic rendering of a site by placing 3d plant images over an imported photo- I've tried jpg and pict formats- I'm able to draw, place the plants, change the view to get the proper perspective, but I cant get a rendered version to show the plants over the imported photo. Sending the photo to the back doesn't seem to make a difference. The 3d views work fine, but when I go to render the 3d symbols dissapear. VW 10.5.1b, Mac Quote Link to comment
propstuff
P; If you have imported the photo as an image, it's a 2D only object, which is stuck in the 2D only space (flat on the screen). If you want it to have a 3D existance (to sit behind your 3D plants) you will probably need to map the photo onto a 3D surface (extrude, NURBS, 3DPoly)as a texture, and then place it in 3D. Either that or make the plants 2D, and put them in front of your photo. HTH, N. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Robert Anderson Posted December 20, 2004 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted December 20, 2004 If you have the RenderWorks package, import your photo as a RenderWorks background resource. This is really the best way. I'd recommend RW also because your plants can be set up as "image props" which will show in 3D and even cast shadows. Quote Link to comment
