Maciej Mani
Hi! I am completely new to VW. I am trying to figure out how to model a concrete column integrated into a wall so that the core of the wall (brick) is recessed where the columns are located, however insulation and finish is not modified. For slabs it works (if slab intersects with wall the core is correctly solved). Similar functionality is needed for most masonry or skeleton structures, however most often the concrete/steel cores have the same thickness as the brickwork. In attachment a jpg illustrating what I am trying to achieve. How to do this with BIM tools (like walls or columns or generic solids in as little steps as possible with good edibility (for example moving a column and the wall recess simultaneously)). Thanks for help! Quote Link to comment
zoomer
That is also a problem for simple interior Walls between Columns. It is pretty annoying as when drawing Walls in between Columns, Wall Auto Connect will always try to connect the Wall Segments to a single Wall. VW Column and Pilaster PIO Tools in VW seem to stille be on a last millennium level. A workaround for your exterior Walls may be to use Concrete Walls (With same insulation) between the multi Ply Wall Segments. Or Insulation only Wall Segments in front of the Columns. But there should be better ways to do that. Maybe others have better workarounds. Quote Link to comment
StefanoT
Hi @Maciej Mani attached is a test file we made at the office a while ago, to understand the software behaviour in terms of visualisation and capabilities in a conditions similar to the one you and @zoomer are describing. For skeleton structures corners are, in our experience, critical to manage. VW19-03 BIM walls-structure rev02.vwx Edited September 17, 2020 by str 1 Quote Link to comment
