Selection Weirdness

Recommended Posts

I have a drawing with a circle (and little else at this point). I use option/click & drag to select something that is in the corner of the imaginary square that encloses the circle. I start outside the circle and do not cross the circle during the selection, yet the circle gets selected, everytime. It is like if the imaginary square gets selected, so does the circle.

What's up with that?

As a way of helping describe this situation, is there a way to attach drawings to postings?

I think the option drag select is a way to select an object by draging through any part of it. Try it with a rectangle and see that it is selected if your drag marque touches any part of the rectangle. The circle must get selected because that imaginary square is part of the circle's domain (my word for this).

Strange, though, that if you rotate the rectangle, say 30 or 40 degrees, it is not selected when you option drag through its bounding domain without touching the rectangle. We need a deeper geek on this one.

John, same thing happens with my Windows puter - have you tried the Lasso Selection Mode - works for me. BTW if you hold down the Shift key you can use the different 2D Selection Tool modes
