Tobias Kern
Hi, i often think about the work processes in VW. Structuring via classes und layers is a good option, but i think we can get way more flexible if we have one more structuring option for all our objects: tags. atm we only have tags for classes and layers, both work fine for what they are designed. but why not go further and give us the option to tag everything possible. we should have a separate tag menu (like the class menu,) and have the option to: show, grey, and hide everything thats tagged. with classes you should do all your settings for visibility (as it is now) with tags you should only structure things. an object should have only one assigned class but as many assigned tags as needed. with tags we can assign everything we need: - tags for phases (new, demolished, existing, ...) - tags for statics like bearing (wall) or non bearing (wall) - tags for positions: inside, outside, 1st floor, 2nd floor, … - tags for whatever you think you need so a wall could have tags like: new, inside, bearing wall, and more … the strength is a versatile way to manage things via tags and what you wanna see, or export and so on. Hi,
i often think about the work processes in VW.
Structuring via classes und layers is a good option,
but i think we can get way more flexible if we have
one more structuring option for all our objects: tags.
atm we only have tags for classes and layers, both work fine for what
they are designed.
but why not go further and give us the option to tag everything possible.
we should have a separate tag menu (like the class menu,)
and have the option to: show, grey, and hide everything thats tagged.
with classes you should do all your settings for visibility (as it is now)
with tags you should only structure things.
an object should have only one assigned class but as many assigned tags as needed.
with tags we can assign everything we need:
- tags for phases (new, demolished, existing, ...)
- tags for statics like bearing (wall) or non bearing (wall)
- tags for positions: inside, outside, 1st floor, 2nd floor, …
- tags for whatever you think you need
so a wall could have tags like: new, inside, bearing wall, and more …
the strength is a versatile way to manage things via tags
and what you wanna see, or export and so on.
