Retain record format entries when using the "Replace Symbol" command

I have 6 variants of a symbol, with an arrow pointing in different directions. I use these for callouts on electrical support drawings. I attach a record, which populates a worksheet.

 

Issue example:

- I start with the "arrow up" symbol, and enter in all the data.

- due to some layout issue, I need to swap it to the "arrow down" symbol. 

- I use the "replace symbol" command in the OIP

    - when I do that, all my record entries get reset to the default values. So I need to re-enter the values

 

Is there some way to keep my record entry values when I replace the symbol? Maybe thinking there is something like the Attribute Mapping tool to do this?
