Let's turn that argument around - you can get a discount for not getting a printed manual.

Seriously, though, welcome to 2006 (if not 2003). Few companies ship printed manuals anymore. And I have to confess I haven't read one in years, either. Online and PDF help versions haven't caused me any problems.

I actually rather enjoy using the PDF version...pretty easily searchable!

In addition, VW ships with a CD-based upgrade guide that documents just the new features for those of you who, like Kevin, "haven't read one in years." This approach is much more time-effective in learning a new version of software.

I did not see a great price discount for not having a written manual!? I find it easier to read from a book rather than flick from screen to screen. Also there is no significant advantage of having the disc manual. For instance, there is no search facility and that would have been great as it is hard to find things in a book.

So in other words, in order for me to be able to read up on anything, I have to have a computer tied to me. Sorry, but I actually like to read things on paper once in a while.Yeh, welcome to 2006 where people still go to Barnes and Noble to buy what? Oh yeh, BOOKS!
