CEA
We are a small architectural office with 4 computers: 3 G4 Power Macs and 1 G4 17? laptop. I?d like to upgrade 1 of the Power Macs this year. The dilemma is if we will be better off waiting until later this year and getting a new Intel based Power Mac, or purchasing a G5 based Power Mac and postpone making the transition to the Intel based machines for a year or two. The new computer will primarily run Vectorworks 12 and Microsoft office. Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
APE Design Ctr
I would probably hold off. I would doubt that Apple will upgrade the current generation IBM G5's again, so the biggest processor you can probably ever get is a 2x2.7 ghz. Or... wait until they are issued, then get a great deal on a discounted 2x2.7. Looking at the performance increases once Apple went to Intel iMacs, I bet the new PowerMacs will be out of the park. wv_vectorworker
why do you need a Power Mac? if you are only doing VW and MS Office tasks on it perhaps an Intel iMac is adequate. They now feature multi-monitor spanning out of the box. Quote Link to comment
