Tapered Flange Beams?

Recommended Posts

Is there any way to use the Structural Member Tool or any of the detailing tools to create Tapered Flange Beams? These are very common in pre-engineered structures where the columns along the wall start narrow and expand as they go up, then meet a rafter that starts wide and narrows as it goes towards a peak.

My current workflow is to create these components using 3D solids and extrudes, but that has none of the structural plugin smarts or data, everything has to be added by hand.

@MediaArtsDad, the short answer is no.  You are doing the right thing by modeling them.  You can model one, save it as a symbol and attached data to it.  Then  repeat at whatever interval you need down the length of the building.
