Looking to buy Vectorworks Architect

Recommended Posts

Hi, I’m looking into buying Vectorworks Architect but the version will depend on cost.

I have a few questions:

Is this transaction overseen by VW and legitimate?

If I have the student version, which I assume will expire soon (I’ve just graduated), can I open the student VW2020 files on whichever earlier version of VW that I buy?

Finally, once I’ve bought the software, will it expire or anything? Or is it a case of once I’ve bought it, I can use it infinitesimally?

Thank you. 🙂

Tim

1.

No, you can't open VW Student Files with any commercial VW.

But I think VW Supportcould help to convert them to real Files.

2.

So far, VW has perpetual Licenses.

You can use your outdated Version as long as you want.

(or find hardware and OS which is able to run that Version)

I think there is a 150 transfer fee - right?

I was told by a VW sales rep that there is no transfer fee.  The rep was in the US office, so I don't know what happens in other countries.  However, he did tell me that the license is transferable to Mac or PC, worldwide.
