Seeing as both Vectorworks 2019 and Vectorworks 2020 express the same problem, then the cause is likely to be caused by something else that they both rely upon. This could be registry files (hidden away in the operating system directories) or a library in the operating system they both utilise. These libraries can be part of the Windows operating system or one that is added to it when Vectorworks is installed. Either the way, the following workflow should resolved it.

In between each step, check if the issue persists:

  1. Remove the Vectorworks shortcut from the Taskbar > Then open the respective version of Vectorworks from the Program Folder. Does the issue occur? If not, then re-add Vectorworks to your Taskbar. If it does, carry on:
  2. Apply all available Windows updates. Failing that;
  3. Ensure Vectorworks is up-to-date. Failing that;
  4. Open the 'Vectorworks 2019/2020 Updater' app and run the 'Repair' function found in the 'Advanced' menu. Failing that;
  5. Preserve your Vectorworks User Data and Preferences Folder, then: Reset Vectorworks Preferences Failing that;
  6. Uninstall then reinstall Vectorworks. Use the dedicated 'Uninstall' app in the Vectorworks program folder.
