Better still slab modifiers should be improved to allow object creation even application reassignment in edit mode. 3 Quote Link to comment

My workaround has been to enter the slab editor, cut the existing modifier, exit the slab, paste-in-place and edit the modifier, then use the edited modifier to re-modify the unmodified slab.
