Sheet layer object order

RichPiano

Question

Hi guys

So apparently my object order got messed up when I inserted a new planar polygon on top of my building to put some green roof texture in. I inserted it below the solarpanels of course, yet in the sheet layer the polygon is drawn on top of them (it has 60% opacity). How do I change this / why does this happen?

* to be specific: I would very much like the order to be like it is when viewed from the top...

Modify Menu, Send Forward/Send to Front/Send Backward/Send to Back will change the stacking order of 2D objects. Since you want to solar panels to be at the top, select them and Send to Front.

Thank you I'm aware of those settings. But they don't change a thing. The order is still messed up 😞

@RichPiano Is this drawing a mix of 2d and 3d objects on the design layers?

• Is that 2d poly assigned to Screen Plane in OIP? Screen objects are always on top of view.  Try switching it to Layer Plane. It will manifest at z=0 for that layer.  Then in Front or other side view, raise it (Move by Points tool is useful for this) up to the roof z value or a bit above. The OIP Plane field will show it as 3d (but I think of this as 2.5d).

•If staying with the same 2d poly is important, "cut" holes in it so that it does not obscure the solar panels.

Or, a couple 3d solutions:

•Convert the poly to a 3d poly, assign the desired z value so it is below the solar panels, but just above the roof.  Assign it a texture.

•Extrude the 2d poly, extrusion value of 0 or approx height of your plants, set bottom z to roof level. Assign texture.
