Moving Light Clamp

I am trying to attach a VW moving light clamp to a moving light as an accessory so when I attach it to a VW piece of truss it hangs correctly from the clamp and not just attaches to the truss clamp-less, but am struggling. Any help appreciated. Thanks

As Rob said, the clamp needs to be a part of  your symbol.  Accessories typically add to the lens/color frame of a fixture.

Bump up on this, I'm having a heck of a time trying to attach a clamp to a fixture whose symbol has none.

 

I think I can attach it to the fixture, but I can't seem to make it attach to the correct part of the fixture. I've tried moving the 3d locus element of the group that makes up the symbol, but the clamp doesn't seem to reliably attach to the new spot, either.

 

What am I not getting?

@A.D.K. Did you attach the Parts record to the clamp?  It should be set as a Base.  If a base object is already part of the fixture symbol, it usually works best to be in the same part (usually a group) as whatever is currently set as the base.  I haven't done a ton of experimenting with this, but I think only one object wants to be assigned as a Base Part.

@Jesse Cogswell that sounds like a promising fix for next time, however I got so annoyed with it that I deleted the fixture and started again.  Always last resort because I still don't have the hang of consistently attaching fixtures to hanging positions;)  But thank you!  It's a good thought, I rushed through that bit and probably did exactly what you say.

The new 2021 implementation works great. Try the moving light claw. Edit the 3D component. Duplicate the claw with the insertion point in centered between them. Then add it to the lighting device. The help documentation is much more readable this year, so it’s a good reference for this operation.
