Importing an OBJ and Remodeling

Recommended Posts

I've imported a fairly simple OBJ into Vectorworks and I want to tweak it a bit. It's an extruded street sign with some text and shapes on it. It was made in C4D by someone else and comes in as a grouped, mesh object.

I want to extrude that text and shapes on it a bit more, separate out some portions of it etc.

What's the best work flow to make these adjustments (short of remodeling from scratch)?

A mesh is a group of 3D polygons. Usually, you have to remodel these to get them to behave when modifying.

You can try going inside the mesh (double click on it), select all and run ADD SOLIDS. You can then try push pull on the parts you want to modify. Might work, might explode depending on complexity. Save before you try this 🙂
