Extrusion - 2D vs 3D

I created a simple polygon and extruded it.
The fill colour is white, which I see in 3D, but not in 2D.
I don't see a way to edit this, even when I double click on the extrusion, it shows the right colours, but once I look at it from top view, it's back to having no fill.

Please help.

This is the down side of extrusions, they are wireframe in top plan views.

 

The typical work arounds are to either turn it into an auto hybrid object or a hybrid 2d/3D symbol with seperate 2d top/plan component,

 

I have found auto hybrids a bit buggy in the past so tend to use the latter option.

Or do I have to convert every single small building to a symbol and redraw its 2D polygon?

Consider using a Massing Model for this purpose. It is hybrid and should do what you want. Start with your poly and instead of extruding, use AEC:Create Objects From Shapes and choose Massing Model. A little playing to figure out the heights and roofs and you should be good.

You would have to create individual symbols this way but there is a option to create the 2d geometry from the 3D component

you could use the pillar tool in AEC menu also - gives you a solid fill in 2d

Pillar or floor is perfect for flat boxlike shapes in 2d and 3d
