Invisible Drawing Label

sully8391

Question

I have a drawing label that seems to be in limbo. I know it somehow ended up in a class that it's not supposed to be in, but I've turned on every single class and still cannot see it. I've also tried making it appear using custom selection to no avail. Is there another way to grab this object?

You could use a worksheet. Go tools, records, create report. Use drawing label as the criteria, add at least one column to the report, eg class.

You should get a report listing all your labels. Right click on a row header will give you the option to select item.

This helped me greatly and I learned a whole new way to find things.  Thank you for this - I was able to find what class my errant drawing labels were on in seconds.

In VW 2024 Spotlight the Create Report menu item is under the Spotlight menu.

If the Drawing Label is in Viewport Annotations, turning on all the classes in the Navigation Palette won't fix it. Instead, exit Annotations then turn on all the classes for the viewport with the Classes button in the OIP. Hopefully your Drawing Label will then appear.

This is also key to know and was the final step to getting myself back in order - Thank you both Boh and Andy!

Very useful indeed. If you wanted to go further you could add additional columns to your drawing label report so that you could control the properties of all the drawing labels in your file from the report. The report can then be exported to a template file to use in other projects. You can create similar reports for most other parametric objects.

Reports have a wide range of applications, they were a big learning for me and really opened up the software to more than just a drawing.
