RichPiano
Hi guys I'm new to Vectorworks. Have a look at the attached picture. I think the stair steps are a bit too wide, so I want to scale the whole object in only that direction so that the steps become smaller. How can I accomplish that (using VW 2020)? Cheers! Kevin Allen
Assuming the steps are not a symbol, go to the top/plan, top or another orthogonal view and use Modify>Scale and Scale Asymmetrically. 1 Quote Link to comment
RichPiano
Thanks Kevin that works! Only in orthogonal view though. This I didn't get at first. Side question: Can I also scale them to a specific length/width? Quote Link to comment
Kevin Allen
I don't think you can without doing the math. The scale to dimension sion is only symmetrical. That might be an enhancement request. It's something I often want. So, you could figure out the exact proportion, but you have to manually so the math. Depending on how the steps are built, you could use the selection tool in the interactive scaling modes and snap to another 2D object that you've placed just to get the snapping points. Does that make sense? Quote Link to comment
Kevin Allen
another enhancement might be a scaling tool, like move or rotate 3D. Quote Link to comment
RichPiano
Hey Kevin I've found a way per accident. You can just group the object itself and then move the group handles. This scales the object proportionaly. Quote Link to comment

Note also that instead of resizing with the handles you can also simply adjust the delta x or delta y in the OIP to the exact dimension you want. Edited April 28, 2020 by Boh Quote Link to comment
