Truss System Total Lenght

Hi there ,  I try to make with dataTag  Total Lenght of Truss System  . I used Dynamic Text "   #TrussItem#.#TrussSystem#->#TotalLenght#  " but not work.  Anyone can helpme ?

Data tags will only give you data attached to a particular object and won't do any kind of aggregation across objects. In your specific attempt, "->" has no meaning, and #TotalLenght# is not a defined token, so you get the value of the system ID and "->" in the tag.

 

If you manually enter the length into a custom Truss Record field, you could display it that way.

 

Savvy Position Labels will calculate the total length as #Pipe_Length#, but only if you convert the entire truss system to a Hanging Position.

Looking in OIP after System Select i found "  Total Lenght "  i tink was possible .

This appears to be a custom function in the Truss object's OIP code that will display an aggregate of lengths when the user multiple Truss objects. This data doesn't get stored anywhere.

Not the most elegant solution, but you can pull this off with a hanging position and an object function. The catch is it wont do much for angled truss and I don't feel like doing any trigonometry. File attached for reference.

@BSeigel  , i really know that option , and is elegant & and useful  . but i want to make it directly (without creation of Hanging position )  . I try to build a Python plugin for do this job . Thanks for your response.
