jakemw
Hi all, Having some issues with data tags in view ports. In model space, I can tag all of my walls, but in a viewport (or section for instance) only some walls are eligible. Any fix for this? As shown below, all these stair walls can be tagged, but not the exterior parkade one??? 1 Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
We chased a problem like this a few months ago. Maybe you have the same problem. The answer then was that the walls had a different IFC pSet than the one the Data Tag was looking for. Check the Walls that are tagable and see if the ones that are not taxable use the same IFC. This is in the Data pane of the Object Info Palette (OIP). Quote Link to comment
jakemw
Hey Pat, I am able to tag all of the walls in the design layers. However, as soon as I move to a viewport it makes 50% of them ineligible. All of the IFC data appears to be the same between the walls I can tag in viewport, and the walls I cannot. Pat Stanford
Can you post or direct message me (a preferably cut down) version of the file that demonstrates the problem? I will be happy to take a look. I will also need a description of exactly what you try so I can try to duplicate your actions. Quote Link to comment
Ioannis.K
Having the same issue. @Pat Stanfordhas a solution been found on this one please? Thank you. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
No Idea. Are you seeing this problem with a current version of VW? Quote Link to comment
GregG
Maybe helpful.... Recently we'd experienced this happening when adding tags on top of viewports. Some worked while others didn't. The conclusion being that it was not a proper workflow or one of those don't do that things... On the other hand tagging worked (mostly) fine in annotation and model spaces. Quote Link to comment
Matthew Thomson
@Pat Stanford I seem to be having the same issue, but within the model space. I had previously set up data tags referencing wall types all over the model but having come back to the project after the 2025 update each tag now simply displays "Member ID". I did have to move the model about slightly and reduce the elevation heights quite significantly (to correspond with a new topographical survey) so this may have had an effect as well. I've tried to fiddle about with the IFC settings in the data tab as you mentioned, but no luck. I've attached a slimmed down file if it would be possible for you to take a look at this issue. Pat Stanford
It appears the IFC for the file is not correct. The data tag is looking for #IfcWallStandardCase#.#Pset_WallCommon#.#Reference# but the walls don't seem to have ifcWallStandardCase only Default ifcWall. I don't know enough about IFC to tell you how to fix this. It seems that you could modify the data tag to report on the IFC that is attached to the wall, or use the Data Manager to attach the IFC the tag is looking for. No idea what happened. Hi @Pat Stanford Appreciate your response, not sure either but will look into your suggestions. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
