Wood structure modelling

Hi again!

 

In the french version, we have a tool to generate a simple wood structure of a roof. Selecting a roof or a roof face, it generates purlins and rafters.

If you wan't to build roof trusses (like they/you do in the US) or a traditionnal truss, or a still more complex structure, how do you model it? Extrustion, rotations, translations??? Or do you have a better method?

@A2M, yes the US version also has a framing tool that can build "conventional" framing.  To add more complex objects such as trusses, you'll need to model them from extrudes. 

 

I've attached an example that incorporates both the "out-of-the-box" framing as well as modeled trusses.

 

You could also model "post and beam" structures using extrudes as well.

@A2M, here are a couple taken from the model in the image above.  They were used as a design tool and as "proof" when the drawings came back from the truss manufacturer...
